If you are planning a trip to Morocco, you shouldn’t miss Essaouira. A coastal city with a postcard-pretty blue and white medina and sandy surrounding walls. This small town is famous for the wild beaches where hippies settled in the 1970s after they were chased out of Ibiza.

It’s only 3 hours drive from Marrakech and you’ll feel that it’s even more bohemian and relaxed than the pink city. Some travelers book with us a day trip to Essaouira but I would highly recommend you to spend at least one or two nights here.

Wandering the blue and white pretty alleys of Essaouria's medina, you’ll feel that this is a different side of Morocco where locals and travelers enjoy a slower pace of life. The place to enjoy fresh fish and seafood (at very cheap prices), for lazy afternoon walks and sweet pots of mint tea enjoyed overlooking the sunset ans the ocean.

After some days strolling the souks in Marrakech or traveling from the South of Morocco, the peace and tranquillity that oozes from the pores of this delightful coastal town is as intoxicating as it is soothing.

The first time I traveled to Essaouira I planned to stay for 3 days and I left after five.

If you are wondering where to stay in Essaouira, you can enjoy a Riad in the medina or a villa in the countryside like this one I absolutely adore.

During my last trip to the coast I wanted to find a nice place to stay not yet discovered, a hidden gem just to be ejoyed by our travelers and friends. After some days exploring the off the beaten path I found this spectacular villa which is also an Instagrammer dream! Don’t you think?

This villa will make you feel like you’re staying in a Moroccan palace living a moroccan dream. An infinity heated pool overlooking the mountains and the coast, a spectacular interior and decor with pretty berber rugs all around, comfy sofás and corners to chill and relax and an open patio with a tropical garden. I couldn’t believe that this place was real!

Rooms are large and equiped with every amenity you could ask for. I loved the natural and handmade mint soap they had. When you’re not relaxing in your private room, you can enjoy the large outdoor pool and surrounding garden where two horses came every moring to spend the day. It’s a little peaceful oasis and the perfect place to spend your holidays.

Si estás planeando un viaje a Marruecos, no deberías perderte Essaouira. Un pueblecito costero de callejuelas blancas y azules donde cada rincón es una postal famoso por sus playas salvajes e infinitas y por ser refugio de hippies y almas bohemias antes de que Ibiza fuese descubierta.

A tan solo 3 horas de Marrakech sentirás que has llegado a otro mundo, mucho más relajado y bohemio que la ciudad roja. Algunos de nuestros viajeros no pueden resistirse a su encanto y reservan una escapada de un día pero si dispones de más tiempo, regalate una estancia de una o dos noches aquí.

Cuando pasees por sus calles y mercados sentirás que estás en otro Marruecos, mucho más auténtico y muy alejado del turismo de masas, en los zocos y cafés viajeros y locales comparten mesa, conversación y a veces hasta un dulce té de menta. Es el lugar para disfrutar de pescado fresco y marisco (a muy buen precio), para tardes de siestas y atardeceres lentos y rojizos mirando al mar.

Después de unos días de ruta hacia el desierto del Sahara o unos días en Marrakech, la tranquilidad y ritmo de vida de Essaouira harán que vuelvas a casa totalmente renovado y lleno de energía.

La primera vez que viajé a Essaouira planee pasar 3 días y no pude resistirme a alargar mi estancia hasta 5.

Si estás buscando donde alojarse en Essaouira, puedes dormir en un Riad en la medina o en una villa en el campo cerca de la playa como esta que hoy te enseño y que adoro.

Esta casa te hará sentir que estás viviendo el sueño de las 1001 noches. Una piscina infinita de agua caliente con vistas al campo y al mar, un interior muy cuidado con pomposas alfombras bereber cubriendo el suelo y montones de rinconcitos donde relajarte y simplemente disfrutar del dolce far niente que las marroquíes tan bien saben disfrutar.

Las habitaciones son amplias y con todos los detalles para hacer de tu estancia un placer. Recuerdo la terraza con vistas en el que aprovechar de los primeros y últimos rayitos de sol en una tumbona súper cómoda que prometo hace olvidarte de todo. Un oasis al que prometo siempre volver para escapar de la dulce y frenética Marrakech de vez en cuando.
